ABOUT THE WEBER RIVER PARTNERSHIP

The Weber River Watershed is more than a river system — it is a living network of mountain streams, working farms and ranches, wildlife habitat, communities, recreation, and history that connects people across northern Utah and ultimately flows to the Great Salt Lake. For generations, the watershed has sustained Indigenous peoples including the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation and other Native communities whose cultural and historical ties to these waters continue today.

From the headwaters in the Uinta Mountains to the wetlands of the Great Salt Lake, the Weber River supports drinking water, agriculture, fisheries, recreation, local economies, and critical habitat for fish and wildlife. Healthy watersheds make healthy communities possible.

OUr History

Founded in 2013 by a volunteer group of landowners, conservationists, fisheries professionals, and community partners, the Weber River Partnership was created to bring people together around a shared understanding: protecting the watershed requires collaboration. Farmers, ranchers, water users, recreationists, agencies, nonprofits, and local communities all play an important role in caring for the river and the landscapes connected to it.

Today, the Partnership works to advance science-based watershed planning, restoration, education, and collaborative solutions that improve water quality, strengthen water resilience, support sustainable agriculture, restore habitat, and protect the long-term health of the Weber River Basin and Great Salt Lake. We believe stewardship happens best when people work together toward solutions that benefit both communities and the natural systems they depend on.
